SIGNATURE 2014 from February 21st to 24th 2014 at Bombay Exhibition Center, Mumbai, India.

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), India, would be holding the 7th edition of SIGNATURE 2014 from February 21st to 24th 2014 at Bombay Exhibition Center, Mumbai. SIGNATURE is India’s top-of-the line modern concept jewellery show, showcasing the best and most innovative jewellery collections by the country’s leading manufacturers. Earlier, the GJEPC had organized the 30th edition of India International Jewellery Show (IIJS 2013) in Mumbai from 8th – 12th August 2013 which witnessed a huge interest from more than 1500 overseas buyers from 69 countries including Saudi Arabia. Qatar and UAE were the other two countries from the region that expressed business interest. The show garnered tremendous business response, and has further established successful sourcing partnerships in our objective to further enhance export of gems and jewellery from India.
The upcoming edition will feature 580 leading Indian companies occupying over 1100 stalls which will render plenty of sourcing opportunities for all types of gems & jewellery items like loose diamonds, gemstones, gold jewellery, and studded jewellery, an exclusive Signature Club for couture collection & International Pavilions from Israel, Belgium & Thailand to showcase the best of the international manufacturers. The Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India is assisting the Council in organizing the show. 


Composite Consular-cum-Community Welfare Tour to Abha on 17th January, 2014 by Indian Consulate, Jeddah

        A Teamfrom the Consulate General of India, Jeddah would be visiting Abha on 17th  January, 2014 (Friday) to provide consular services (limited to attestation and passport services not being provided by the outsourced agencies) to the Indian nationals, from 0830 to 1100 hrs and 1700 to 2000 hrs. at Hotel Al Rayah (Tel. No. 017-317 1641/017-321 7777). The Indian nationals residing in the area may, therefore, avail the opportunity to apply for the consular services, to meet the visiting officials and also to convey their grievances/suggestions, if any, relating to labour and welfare issues. They should bring along with them written statement narrating their problems for redressal of their grievances, including consular related services. 



The Consulate General of India, Jeddah attaches high priority to the welfare of the Indian expatriate community residing under its jurisdiction.
With the intention of establishing a direct and one-to-one interaction with the Consul General and his team of Consuls, an ‘Open House’ will be held on Saturday, 4th January, 2014 from 1100 am to 1.00 pm at the premises of the Consulate General of India, Jeddah, Tahliya street.

During the ‘Open House’, members of the Indian community can directly meet the Consul General and other Consuls to discuss their grievances/issues related to Consular, Welfare and Labour and seek redressal of the same.
All Indian nationals are welcome to attend the said Open House

Director (Technical) Shri K. V. L. Narasimham from Educational Consultants India Limited (EdCIL) is visiting Jeddah on December 14, 2013 at the invitation of Consulate General of India, Jeddah and has consented to present a Lecture-cum-Seminar on Higher Education for the students of Classes XI & XII of IISJ and all schools in Jeddah following CBSE curriculum on December 14, 2013 at 04.00 pm at the auditorium in the Boys Section of International Indian School, Jeddah. The lecture will provide in-depth information about the reputed institutions for higher education in India and the procedures to be followed for admissions there.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas - 2014

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is celebrated on 9th January every year to mark the contribution of Overseas Indian community in the development of India. January 9 was chosen as the day to celebrate this occasion since it was on this day in 1915 that Mahatma Gandhi, the greatest Pravasi, returned to India from South Africa, led India’s freedom struggle and changed the lives of Indians forever.

            PBD conventions are being held every year since 2003. During the event, individuals of exceptional merit are honoured with the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award to appreciate their role in India’s growth. The event is intended to strengthen Diaspora’s engagement with India’s growth story and provide an invigorating platform to network and exchange views and perspectives; to enhance linkages and synergies for Diaspora across the spectrum: economic, social and cultural; to foster Diaspora innovations and strides in science and technology; to deepen engagement with young Diaspora and facilitate new perspectives; to recognize Diaspora’s contribution to the Indian growth and development and special focus on the younger generation of the Diaspora.
The 12th  edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention will be held in New Delhi from 7-9 January  2014. A large number of delegates from across the world are expected to attend the three-day event.

 SIBN Seminar on “India, Your Best BPO Partner”

We have a well stocked library in our Consulate containing about 3326 books relating to various fields of Human Knowledge from History to Literarure, Politics to Culture, Children books to Encyclopaedias.  In addition to this, several weekly and monthly magazines including children magazines are also subscribed  by the Library. The library also has a good stock of DVDs, CDs, Audio CDs on feature films and documentaries.


Timing:          The library is open from Sunday to Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm and is open for all.  All interested individuals including school children are welcome to visit the library and benefit from its collections during the specified time.
Membership:           Those who are interested to become a Member of the library are required todeposit SR. 100/-  which is refundable. Copies of Passport, Iqama and one photograph are also required to be submitted. Once a person becomes a member, he or she can borrow one book and keep it for a maximum of two weeksfor reading

              The Urdu Service of All India Radio broadcasts every year special programmes in Urdu to Saudi Arabia for Haj pilgrims.  This year the service commenced from 16.09.2013 and will continue till 13th November 2013. Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India conducts a Study India Program as a means of enhancing engagement with the Indian diaspora youth. The objective of the program is to enable overseas Indian youth i.e. foreign citizens of Indian origin in the age group of 18-26 years to undergo short term courses in the nature of summer schools to familiarize them with the art & culture, heritage, history, economy and development of India. Such short term courses shall aim at providing an opportunity to the overseas Indian youth to better understand and appreciate contemporary India, foster closer ties with the land of their ancestors and enhance their engagement with India.

2. The participants are selected based on recommendations received from Heads of India Missions / Posts abroad. Selected participants are provided with full hospitality in India for the duration of the Program. 50% of the cost of air ticket by economy class (Direct flight) is refundable to the participants on successful completion of the Program by them.
