Deadline for submission of applications for scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) has been extented to  to 30 November, 2016. 
 

a.     The NRI, PIO students who were admitted in India in 2015-16 batch are now eligible for scholarships under SPDC and will be governed by guidelines of the existing revamped Scheme 2016-17. Such students will be considered for scholarship from the current academic year (i.e. they will not receive scholarship amount for 2015-16). The amount of scholarship for this category of students shall be determined as applicable for 2nd year students. Applications from such candidates be submitted through SPDC Portal by 30 November 2016.

b.     The monthly income limit for PIOs and NRIs has been raised to US$ 4000 from existing US$ 2250.

c.      The candidates can now upload self-attested copies of all supporting documents except proof of Indian Origin. The proof of Indian Origin or undertaking about Indian Origin of applicants must be attested by Mission and submitted on SPDC portal.

d.     In addition to NITs, IIITs and SPAs covered under DASA Scheme, students admitted in other premier institutes covered under DASA shall also be eligible for scholarship under SPDC Scheme.

e.      Last date for submission of applications is extended to 30 November, 2016.

It has been decided to extend the deadline for submission of forms to 15 November, 2016.


NOTICE INVITING APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS UNDER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR DIASPORA CHILDREN

 

SACHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR DIASPORA CHILDREN (SPDC) 2016-17
Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children enables (a) Children of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), (b) Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), (c) Children of Indian Workers working in ECR countries and (d) Children of Indian Workers in ECR countries-studying in India to pursue Under Graduate courses in Indian Universities/Institutes in different fields (except medical and related courses) both professional and non-professional in Engineering/Technology, Humanities/Liberal Arts, Commerce, Management, Journalism, Hotel Management, Agriculture/Animal husbandry etc.  


2. The scholarship amount is given for payment of tuition fee, admission fee and post admission services including hostel fee but excluding payment of food charges. In the First Year partial financial assistance is upto 75% of the total Institutional Economic Cost subject to a maximum of US$ 4000 per annum in respect of NITs and other institutions covered under Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Scheme.


3. The interested candidates can log on to www.spdcindia.gov.in for details and apply on the portal by 14 October, 2016 with supporting documents. Please note that applications in any other format or in hard copy will not be accepted.
